Voda IQ provides microchips or the common term, PIT (passive integrated transponders) tags for researchers to uniquely identify for mice and remove mistakes made by notching, tattooing, or ear tagging. The PIT tag is implanted subcutaneously to provide a permit identifier in the animal. The PIT tag is read by a transceiver that decodes the tag and provides the unique 15-digit code for each species. When implanting an animal, the best practice is to sedate or anesthetize the animal. It is also recommended to close the puncture to use a tissue adhesive.
At Voda IQ researchers have a variety of tags to choose from, from a 7mm x 1.25mm tag to a 12mm x 1.25 tag. We recommend using the 7mm X 1.25mm tag that comes with in a hermetically sealed pouch for single use and a 16-gauge needle. The needles primary use is to make a small puncture and then slowly plunge the tag subcutaneously into the animal.
For Precision – remove the manual process for recording and eliminate human errors. Scan the animal and get your unique 15-digit identification and removes the possibility of duplicates. Voda IQ tags codes meet the ICAR certification process.
For Speed – when reading a PIT tag the reader responds in milliseconds and eliminates the need for handling and transcribing the information. Voda IQ readers use Bluetooth and can be connected to most LIMS software systems.
For Better Health – Using our hermetically sealed products ensures that each tag and needle is sterilized and ready to go. Our 7mm tag is one of the smallest PIT Tags on the market and minimizes the impact of a tag and improves the recovery time of large PIT tags. Less handling than other forms of tagging or marking the animal.
